Following table provides the list of default help messages provided by VLMenuPlus control for common menu items.

| NEW | Creates a new document |
| OPEN | Opens an existing document |
| SAVE | Saves the active document |
| SAVE AS | Saves the active document with a new name |

| PAGE SETUP | Changes the printing options |
| PRINT SETUP | Change the printer and printing options |
| PRINT PREVIEW | Displays full page |
| UPDATE | Updates the container to show any changes |
| SEND MAIL | Send the active document through electronic mail |
| EXIT | Quits the application |

| CLEAR | Erases the selection |
| CLEAR ALL | Erases everything |
| COPY | Copies the selection and puts it on the Clipboard |
| CUT | Cuts the selection and puts it on the Clipboard |
| PASTE | Inserts Clipboard contents |
| PASTE SPECIAL | Inserts Clipboard contents with options |
| REPEAT | Repeats the last action |
| FIND | Finds the specified text |
| REPLACE | Replaces specific text with different text |
| UNDO | Undo the last action |
| REDO | Redo the previously undone action |
| SELECT ALL | Selects the entire document |

| TOOLBAR | Shows or hides the toolbar |
| STATUS BAR | Shows or hides the status bar |
| SPLIT | Split the active window into panes |

| SIZE | Changes the window size |
| MOVE | Changes the window position |
| MINIMIZE | Reduces the window to an icon |
| MAXIMIZE | Enlarges the window to full size |
| CLOSE | Closes the active window and prompts to save the documents |
